Double Slit Experiment

I replicated the double slit experiment originally performed by Thomas Young as my final project in Quantum Mechanics and Computing independent study during Spring 2019. A magnificent interference pattern was observed, as seen below.

Setup

The setup for the experiment was designed and assembled by me. 3D printed PLA block was used to mount the laser and concentric plywood rectangles were used to focus the laser beam. The slits were made of black cardstock.

Interference

The interference pattern can be observed on the right. Constructive interference creates bright spots of light while destructive interference results in dark spots of light.
